Employment Law Now: Live! - Event Report

It’s been great to meet so many of you at our ELN: Live! events in Peterborough and Cambridge.  For those of you who weren’t able to come along, here’s an insight.

A number of topics generated discussion during the coffee breaks:

Holiday pay: The latest update about the Harpur Trust v Brazel case on payment of holiday pay for part-year workers. If this impacts your organisation our insight guide will be useful.

Settlement agreements: The case of Bathgate v Technip reminded us about whether future claims can be waived under a settlement agreement.  If you use settlement agreements in your organisation, we recently shared some thoughts on this case, which you can access here

Delegates had the opportunity to put forward questions to be answered ‘on the day’, and topics included:

  1. How far employers should go when making reasonable adjustments for employees
  2. Surprising and cost-effective employee benefits – one delegate had a great result with a fantastic bean to cup coffee machine!
  3. The provision of Employee Liability Information in a TUPE transfer process

John Macaulay, Keith Williams and Micheala Drazek, experts from our Employment team, were on hand providing the legal updates and practical steps to address them.  If you are tackling similar issues and have questions, click the button below. (Although we’re not really experts on which coffee machine to go for!)

We make it our mission to ensure our ELN: Live! Events are practical, helpful, relevant and fun.  100% of delegates who completed our feedback forms* rated the events as good, very good or excellent – and actually, 94% ranked the events as excellent or very good.  Thank you.  Comments included:

  • “All sessions were very impactful.”
  • “The quiz was the most useful part of the event. It helped me to reinforce my knowledge.”
  • “Very knowledgeable presenters with up-to-date knowledge on subjects.”
  • “All very clear & made very understandable.”

Many delegates also remarked on how useful the networking was to share ideas and insights.  It was a forum to make connections with peers in a vibrant and buzzing atmosphere. And whilst online learning definitely has a place, the face-to-face discussions were very valuable.

If you weren’t able to attend, we hope you can join us next time.

Thank you to everyone who came along, those behind the scenes that made it happen, and our speakers. We look forward to seeing you at our next event.
