It is a little cliché, but I ‘fell’ into the world of wealth preservation and haven’t looked back since. After qualifying in 2017, I moved to Greenwoods soon after and have relished the opportunity to be part of a great team and being able to work with a variety of clients.
I now work from the London office and cover all aspects of wealth preservation work. Being a wealth preservation solicitor allows me to meet new people and build relationships with them, whilst providing bespoke advice on complex areas of law. Whether it’s preparing Wills, considering estate planning opportunities, advising on trusts or administering an estate following a death, I enjoy my role as an advisor and being able to make a difference to clients.
As someone who likes a puzzle, I particularly enjoy listening to my clients’ aims, considering and presenting to them the options and solutions that may be the best fit for their circumstances, and enabling them to make informed choices. This is especially relevant when assisting clients with succession or estate planning. Being a wealth preservation ‘all-rounder’ means that I also deal with estate administration, and this can sometimes mean untangling a person’s lifetime affairs to ensure that the estate is administered correctly and that any tax due is paid.
I completed my Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) diploma towards the end of 2021, expanding my knowledge specifically in relation to trusts and tax. I’m proud to say I’m one of nine members of the team with the qualification.
In my spare time, I try to spend as much time outdoors as possible and often go for long walks and hikes. In May, I walked the whole of Hadrian’s Wall and stepped back in time exploring the remains of the forts and turrets along the way. I also recently completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge for the second time and am now searching for another hiking challenge to take on next year.
Away from the outdoors, I can often be found watching football or a theatre performance. I’m usually open to watching any genre of performance at the theatre but love an upbeat, feel-good musical. I’ve always followed football and adopted Peterborough United as my local team on moving to the city several years ago. With the season only starting a couple of weeks ago, optimistic dreams of promotion have not yet been broken!
