Rob believes in serving the firm
Managing Partner
A client once said of Rob, “He is not an employment lawyer; he is a businessman who knows employment law.” So it was probably not a surprise that in 2009, he moved from being the head of our employment practice to Managing Partner – a role that continues to be as enjoyable as it is a privilege for Rob.
He is inspired and humbled daily by his colleagues’ approach to their work and the firm’s growth. He feels that his role is one of service to the wider firm – a firm where there is no place for egos and individuality is encouraged.
“…managing partner Robert Dillarstone (Hall of Fame) is ‘brilliant’.”
“Perfect client management, being always available, with a complete knowledge of legislation, case and team management.”
A UCL law graduate, Rob joined Greenwoods as a Trainee in 1984, qualifying as a Solicitor in 1986 and becoming a Partner in 1989. He spent his career at the coalface growing our employment team and has been acknowledged by the legal directories as a leader in his field for over 30 years.
Rob has acted in cases before the Court of Appeal and the House of Lords. His strengths lie in his commercial, practical and personable approach to delivering solutions to clients.
The current edition of The Legal 500 places Rob in its ‘Hall of Fame’ amongst its list of East Anglia’s leading individuals for employment law, a position Rob has occupied for several years.
Not for the first time, the current edition of Chambers and Partners’ UK legal directory ranks Robert alone as an ‘Eminent Practitioner’ in the field of employment law in East Anglia. A previous edition stated that Rob is “praised by sources for his employment litigation practice, with one interviewee noting: “Robert is fantastic; he is a serious litigator”.”
Rob has been the Managing Partner of Greenwoods Legal LLP since 2009. He is passionate about leadership and our values of respect, excellence, freedom and fun. He works hard to empower and develop colleagues in their roles and seeks simplicity and clarity in all the we do.
Since 2019, Rob has been a Trustee of international disability charity, CBM UK, where he Chairs the Finance and Audit Committee.
Between the beginning of 2022 and September 2024 Rob was a NED and Chair of Stratagem IPM Limited, a Cambridge-based company which delivers a total intellectual property management solution for its clients.
